J&K: 1 cop martyred, 3 Jawans injured in encounter with terrorists in Batmaloo
Srinagar, Aug 12: A Special Operations Group policeman was martyred and three security forces personnel were injured during an early morning encounter with militants in Batmaloo area.

Speaking to ANI, J&K DGP SP Vaid said,''On a specific information about presence of terrorists in a hideout, an operation was launched in Batmaloo Srinagar leading to exchange of fire, one SOG boy martyred, one JKP & 2 CRPF Jawans sustained injuries, operation continues.''

Based on specific information about the presence of militants in Diyarwani in Batamaloo area of the city, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area early morning on Sunday.

The gunfight was going on, the official said.
Meanwhile, mobile internet services were temporarily suspended here in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The internet on mobile devices was suspended in the early hours of the morning after an encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Deyarwani area of Batamaloo in the pre-dawn hours, a police official said.
Two militants were arrested while a cop was killed and five other security forces personnel were injured during the encounter.
