Italy PM Giorgia Meloni Shares Video With PM Modi: "Hi Friends, From Melodi"

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni shared a video on X on Saturday, standing alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi and greeting viewers as part of the "Melodi team." PM Modi can be heard laughing in the video.

Posting the video, Meloni wrote, "Hi friends, from #Melodi."

Earlier that day, a viral picture showed the two leaders taking a selfie at the G7 Summit in Italy's Apulia, both smiling at the camera as Meloni takes the picture.

Modi, on his first international visit after being sworn in for the third time, arrived in Italy on Friday for a day-long visit. He was representing India as an outreach nation on the sidelines of the summit.

Upon reaching the summit venue, Meloni welcomed Modi with a namaste.

PM Modi attended the 2024 G7 Summit at Meloni's invitation. He expressed gratitude on X for inviting India to the summit and for the excellent arrangements.

During the G7 Summit, Modi and Meloni discussed defense and security cooperation. Modi also thanked the Italian government for recognizing the Indian Army's role in the Italian Campaign during World War II. He announced plans to upgrade the Yashwant Ghadge Memorial in Montone, Italy.

The two leaders celebrated the signing of a Letter of Intent for Cooperation in Energy Transition, aiming to enhance collaboration in clean and green energy, as part of the 'Global Biofuels Alliance'. Meloni congratulated PM Modi on his third consecutive term as Prime Minister. They also discussed the new Executive Programme of Cooperation for 2025-27 to promote joint research and development in Science and Technology.

PM Modi mentioned, "We discussed ways to further cement India-Italy relations in areas like commerce, energy, defense, telecom, and more. Our nations will work together in futuristic areas like biofuels, food processing, and critical minerals."

The friendship between Modi and Meloni, who met at the G20 Summit in Delhi last year and then at COP28 in Dubai, has sparked online memes. In December, they took a selfie together at COP28, which Meloni shared on X with the caption, "Good friends at COP28, #Melodi." Their photographs together have been widely shared online, with the hashtag "Melodi" trending.
