It’s for family’s honour: Mulayam campaigns for choti bahu with badi bahu
On Wednesday, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Dimple Yadav campaigned for Aparna Yadav at Cantonment in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Lucknow, Feb 16: Finally, we can say former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav is back and is hogging the limelight. Better late than never, the Samajwadi Party patriarch made his grand entry into the UP election campaign trail on Wednesday when he campaigned for his daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav, the wife of his second son Prateek, at Cantonment in Lucknow.
He was not alone. His elder daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav (wife of UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav) also accompanied Mulayam during the election rally. "We appeal to you to make Aparna win with a massive majority... our respect is attached to it," Mulayam said at the rally. "She is my daughter-in-law... Keep my honour and ensure her victory from the seat," he added.
Mulayam has so far attended rallies only for brother Shivpal Yadav at Jaswant Nagar in Etawah on February 11 and 13. Thus the veteran leader has been conspicuously missing from the UP election drama. Moreover, it was interesting to see Mulayam, Dimple and Aparna sharing a stage. We all know how Mulayam and Akhilesh fought a bitter battle to take control of the party's reins. In fact, Aparna is known to be close to Mulayam and Shivpal camp.
Aparna is pitted against Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi in her maiden foray into politics. She has always maintained that she did not belong to any group within the SP and that she is a part of the Yadav family. Aparna had also said in the past that her Dimple bhabhi will campaign for her.
Dimple, the MP from Kanauj, obliged and sought votes for Aparna by listing out schemes and projects initiated by her husband Akhilesh. Aparna said the SP alliance with the Congress was not need-based, but a decision taken in view of the demand by the people.
