‘Operation Clean Money’ strikes Jaya TV, Sasikala aides, IT raids at 187 locations

As part of 'Operation Clean Money,' the Income Tax department raided the offices of Jaya TV in Chennai. The raid which began at 6.30 am was carried in 187 other locations as well.

IT sleuths who are conducting raids at various places have reached the T T V Dhinakaran as well. Raids are also being conducted at the Domlur residence of Pugazhendi, AIADMK Karnataka in-charge.

A senior officer informed that the raids against 10 groups including Jaya TV are taking place. Raids are also being conducted in Andhra Pradesh and Delhi.

Around a dozen officials entered the office of the Tamil channel around 6.30 am. News agency PTI reports that the searches follow allegations of shell companies, dubious investments, fund flow and fudging of accounts by Jaya TV, started by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and currently controlled by the family of Sasikala, who was her closest aide.

The IT department decided to conduct the raids following allegations of tax evasion. Further the sleuths are also checking if there was any money laundering and also possible links to shell companies. Raids are also being conducted on Vivek the director of Jaya TV. In all 187 other places in TN are also being raided by the IT department.
