It is now AIADMK Amma vs AIADMK Puratchi Thalaivi Amma

The EC had on Wednesday frozen the AIADMK symbol after there were contesting claims from the OPS camp.

It is AIADMK-Amma vs AIADMK-Puratchi Thalaivi Amma. After the Election Commission had frozen the two leaves symbol of the AIADMK, both the Sasikala and O Paneerselvam factions had given their choice of party names to the commission. The EC granted the OPS faction the name AIADMK- Puratchi Thalaivi Amma while the Sasikala faction was granted the name AIADMK Amma.

The Sasikala faction would contest on the 'hat' symbol. The O Panneerselvam camp will contest on the twin lamp posts symbol which will be called as the 'electric pole.'

The EC in its interim order had said," "No one would grudge the fact that it is almost humanly impossible to study all the aforesaid records running into more than 20,000 pages (submitted just a day earlier)." Before coming to a definite finding or conclusion, one would have to analyse the arguments advanced by the two sides in detail. The EC also said that it did not want to rush to any conclusion that may be erroneous.
