ISRO Makes History With Rocket Launch And Satellite Test From Uttar Pradesh

In a historic moment for India's space program, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) achieved a major milestone on Saturday with its first successful rocket based satellite payload launch from the state of Uttar Pradesh. This dramatic breakthrough marks the first time a satellite payload has been deployed via rocket from UP, a feat never before accomplished on this terrain.

The launch took place at exactly 5:14 pm when a 15 kg rocket soared into the skies, reaching an altitude of 1.1 kilometres. Shortly after reaching its peak, the rocket deployed a small payload which descended safely using a parachute. "The payload was released after the rocket achieved the target altitude. It deployed a parachute about five metres above the ground and landed just 400 metres from the launch point," said ISRO scientist Abhishek Singh, as quoted by PTI.

This launch stands in contrast to earlier ISRO experiments, such as those conducted in Ahmedabad where payloads were deployed via drones. This time, a direct rocket launch was used, making it a first of its kind accomplishment for Uttar Pradesh.

ISRO conducted the launch in partnership with Thrust Tech India Limited. Company Director Vinod Kumar confirmed the motor test involved in the launch was also a success. "This effort isn't just about breaking technical ground, it's about sparking imagination," said Kumar. "Our goal is to inspire curiosity in space science and technology among children, not just in UP but across India."

The successful trial is just the beginning. ISRO and its collaborators are now preparing for a much larger mission scheduled for October November this year when nearly 900 student built satellites will be tested.

Officials hailed the mission as a full success and a crucial step forward in expanding India's space research footprint beyond its traditional hubs.
