New Delhi, Feb 8: Israel's 'Iron Domes' have become synonymous with the best in the world when it comes to the air defence system. Now, these may soon be seen defending Ukrainian airspace from Russian airstrikes. Reports from Israel claim that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is willing to export some of these Iron Domes to Ukraine. However, how will the Russian establishment consider this military aid to Ukraine is yet to be seen?
The insinuation for the supply of 'Iron Domes' to Ukraine came from a live interview of Netanyahu to French TV outlets TF1 and LCI broadcast. When Netanyahu was asked what was his response to the Ukrainian request for the air defence system, he replied in affirmation. It's pertinent to note that Ukraine has been seeking military aid of all sorts from several countries and asked for the much famed 'Iron Domes' from Israel as well.

Supplying 'Iron Domes' a big deal
Netanyahu told the news channel that he is looking into supplying 'Iron Domes' to Ukraine. From this line, a lot of inferences have been drawn and there could be several interpretations. There could also be guess work on what time frame this could happen, especially, when Ukraine is requesting them urgently.
Additionally, since Israel has already supplied military equipment like helmets and protective vests, etc. amongst others, would it supply 'Iron Domes'. The fact is, till now Israel has supplied only lower end military requirements and 'Iron Domes' are definitely a big deal and would be noticed by the Russian establishment.
It's pertinent to note that Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin share a great bonhomie. They have often been seen praising the leadership skills of one another at times.
Why is 'Iron Dome' the best?
The mobile air defence system, which has been designed to intercept and destroy incoming rockets quite effectively, has also been used against incoming attacks from artillery and mortars. These have also been used to protect not just the military establishments but civilian populations as well. Most of them have been installed in Israel to defend its population against raw rocket launches from Palestinian terrorists.

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems is the company behind the advanced defence system. Using the advanced radar technology to track incoming threats, it is able to determine the trajectory and potential impact location and effectively neutralizes them. Once these are there with Ukrainian defence forces, they would be able to defend their installations. And obviously, this could be a decisive enhancement if it happens.
