ISIS used a corporate style of recruiting in India

New Delhi, Jan 25: The National Investigating Agency which is probing a case relating to the ISIS following a series of arrests has learnt that the recruitment process adopted was almost corporate in nature. Several persons who were recruiting for the ISIS would scout for youth online and there was a two pronged approach that had been adopted.

While in some cases the youth came forward to be part of the ISIS, there were others in which the men were lured into the outfit by promising jobs with a handsome salary. While the first type of recruitment is well known, the second one has generated a great deal of interest among the investigating agencies.

Luring with jobs

The recruiters would look for youth on several job sites where resumes would be posted. The recruiters would then randomly pick the youth and get in touch with them. In some of the cases the youth were asked if they would like to take up a job in countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia or UAE.

They would then be promised a good salary and arrangements for their travel too would be made. The idea was to ensure that these youth reach the above mentioned countries first. On reaching there they would be tricked and taken to the war zone in Syria or Iraq.

Investigators say that in some of the cases the job profiles would include managing the social media for the ISIS. There have also been instances where youth were forced into joining the battle for the ISIS.

It can be said that in some of the cases that we have studied during our the probe, the youth have also been trapped.
