Custody Transfer and Court Proceedings

The three individuals, Mohammad Shahnawaz Alam Shafiujma Khan, Mohammad Yunus Mohammad Yakub Saki, and Zulfikar Ali Barodawala, were initially in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which had busted alleged modules of the terror organization Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in India. The ATS took custody of the accused from the NIA and produced them before a special ATS court in Pune on Wednesday. The court remanded them to ATS custody until March 21.

Robbery and Bomb-Making Materials

According to the ATS, during their stay in Pune's Kondhwa area, Yunus and Shahnawaz Alam committed a robbery at a saree shop in Satara on April 8, 2023. Armed with a gun, they stole Rs 1 lakh from the shop owner. Subsequently, the two individuals, along with Barodawala, utilized the stolen money to purchase materials required for bomb-making.

Terror-Related Charges

The ATS has booked the accused under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) on terror-related charges. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover the extent of their involvement in terrorist activities and identify any potential associates.

The arrest of these individuals and the revelation of their involvement in robbery and bomb-making activities highlight the ongoing threat posed by terrorist organizations and the need for continued vigilance by law enforcement agencies. The ATS's investigation aims to gather crucial evidence and prevent any potential terror attacks, ensuring the safety and security of the citizens.
