New Delhi, Dec 7: Operation Surgeon was a code used by the ISI moles to collect sensitive information. The code name was in fact used by Farid Khan an army hawaldar who is accused of leaking information to the ISI.

The investigations that are being conducted clearly show that the spy ring was a well established one and people from different walks of life were used to source and pass information. The role of a school teacher in this entire racket is extremely important.

India spy ring was called Op Surgeon

Sabar the school teacher from Rajouri was allegedly the go in-between man and he coordinated between a retired and serving army hawaldar to source information.

Face to face interrogation

The police are now planning on bringing three accused persons face to face for questioning. Sabar, Farid Khan and Munawwar Mir will be brought face to face for questioning at Delhi. While Sabar and Mir were picked up from Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, Farid Khan was arrested at West Bengal.

All of them have denied so far that they were part of an ISI spy ring. The Delhi police which is conducting the probe says that they have enough and more evidence to show that these persons operated a major spy ring under the code name Surgeon.

There are money transactions and also materials seized which clearly show that these persons were running a major racket. The police are however analysing the material in a bid to find out if extremely sensitive information had been leaked.

Sources however say that there is not much cause for concern about the information as prima facie it appears to be minor information such as troop movement and maps of cantonments. Security is already tight in these areas and terrorists will find it hard to strike such locations.

The police say that Farid, Mir and Sabar had met at Rajouri for the first time. It was Sabar who was allegedly roped in by the ISI and since he was not part of the army, the suspicion on him would be less.

Mir who had retired from the army was alleged to have used his contacts to source information. Farid on the other hand was transferred to West Bengal, but is alleged to have assured to pass on information. The police say that this spy ring operated more for the money rather than any ideological connections.
