Lucknow, July 13: Senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who had alleged a threat by Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, will meet officials of home ministry in New Delhi on Monday.

His social activist wife Nutan Thakur said that they are petitioning the ministry to provide them security by central forces as they had lost faith in the state police.

Thakur, posted as IG (Civil Defence) has also sought a CBI probe into the call made to him allegedly by SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Thakur, against whom an FIR has been lodged for the alleged rape of Ghaziabad-based woman the day he filed a complaint against Mulayam Singh Yadav, sees this as a conspiracy which he termed a "return gift" from the former chief minister for taking on the high and the mighty.

The officer has alleged that Mulayam had warned him of physical harm if he did not mend his ways.

Thakur and his wife are behind a slew of public interest litigations (PILs) against the government and have been targetting mining minister Prajapati, a close confidante of Yadav.

The SP leadership has termed the allegations levelled by Thakur and his wife as "baseless and frivolous".

"Mulayam Singh Yadav has had an impeccable public life for 60 years and is not used to such language or behaviour," a statement by party spokesman Rajendra Chowdhary said.
