Lucknow, May 11: Senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who was last year suspended on charges dereliction of duty and indiscipline, today claimed that the Uttar Pradesh government has reinstated him "with full salary benefits" and hailed the development as a "victory of justice".

Thakur claimed he has been reinstated with effect from October 11, 2015 with full salary benefits as directed by the Lucknow bench of Central Administrative Tribunal.

"The order dated May 11, 2016 by Principal Secretary Home Debashish Panda says the Central government has quashed the suspension through its order dated March 31, 2016 which was again reiterated by the Lucknow bench of Central Administrative Tribunal on April 25, 2016.

"The Central government again gave the same directions to the UP government through its order dated April 26, 2016 and in compliance of all the above orders, the reinstatement has come from October 11, 2015 with full salary," Thakur said in a press note.

"The order says the order for posting shall be issued separately," he claimed and termed it as a "victory of justice".

Thakur, who had alleged he was threatened by ruling Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, was suspended by the state government in July last year.

The IG-level officer was put under suspension when he had approached the Union Home Ministry in Delhi seeking a CBI probe into a rape case filed against him after he had lodged a complaint against Mulayam for threatening him.
