IOC official with ISIS links: NIA takes over probe

New Delhi, Mar 2: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the case relating to an Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) official who is alleged to be linked to the ISIS.

The official Mohammad Sirajuddin a resident of Karnataka was arrested in Jaipur, Rajasthan after the police found him to be involved with the ISIS.

NIA to probe IOC official's link with IS

The Central Government directed the NIA to take up the investigation of the case from the Rajasthan ATS.

A case was registered at Jaipur, on the allegation that one Mohammad Sirajuddin son of Mohammad Sarwar, hailing from Bangalore and presently employed in Sales division of Indian Oil Corporation in Jaipur, Rajasthan, is actively associated in promoting the ideology of ISIS.

He was also accused of inciting other persons to become member of ISIS through the use of online social media forums and exhorting them to indulge in terrorist and anti-national activities. He was arrested by Rajasthan Police on 10-12-2015.

Considering the gravity of the offence, the Central Government has issued orders for investigation by NIA. An officer of the rank of Superintendent of Police has been appointed as the Chief Investigating Officer of the case.
