International Karate champion forced to sell tea for living

New Delhi, Dec 21: Having represented India at national and international level, Vandana Suryavanshi is now living in deprivation. The former International Karate champion is finding it hard to make her ends meet and sells tea, gives Karate classes to earn her living.

Vandana told ANI that she won gold medal in Pune and silver medal in Katmandu in 2014.

"I had been a Karate Champion. I have played at inter-state, district and national level. I played at international level in 2014 at Kathmandu and got silver medal.

I got gold medal in Pune during my nationals in 2014. Now, I run this tea stall and I am also giving Karate classes. It has been three years that I sell tea," Vandana Suryavanshi told ANI.

"It was my dream since childhood to be a karate player. I expect the government to help me financially or in getting job which will also raise the confidence of other karate players," she further added.

She teaches students and many of them have got a chance to play at national level.
