He said, "Major requirement as of now is Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, to keep eye on adversaries on western and northern borders.

"We are also looking at Electronic Warfare (EW) system to keep an eye not just on borders but in hinterland also," said Rawat.

Rawat further said that security of installations in the hinterland is becoming a cause for concern.

"We are getting reports of Uri like attacks well in depth," he added.

Commenting on the appointment of new interlocutor, Rawat said, "Government has appointed him, let him work, it will not affect Army's operations."

Last week, Army Chief, during his visit to Jammu and Kashmir, blamed social media for radicalisation in the state, saying "it is a worldwide phenomenon and we are addressing it seriously."
