Launching a scathing attack on the Virbhadra Singh-led government in Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said the Congress encouraged "mafia raj" in the state instead of boosting tourism and medical facilities.

Urging the electorate to uproot the Congress from Himachal Pradesh, Adityanath said that the grand old party had already conceded defeat in the hill state.

"The excitement in public ahead of the election has already proved their defeat. Now you voters will have to make Congress realise the power of your constitutional rights on November 9," ANI quoted the UP Chief Minister as saying at a rally in Solan.

He also hinted that crime against women was on a rise in Himachal Pradesh and held the ruling Congress responsible for it.

"These mafias, criminals who are enjoying the throne while playing with the honour of our women, should be in the prison instead of the government. To send them behind the bars, to give them the treatment they deserve, you need to bring Bharatiya Janata Party in the government," he added.

At another rally in Baddi, Adityanath said that the BJP government at the Centre had done more for the state than the 10-years of UPA regime.

"In 10 years Congress gave only Rs 20,000 Crore to Himachal Pradesh. In just 3 years BJP gave Rs 40,600 Crore to this state," he said.

He said that the Congress had no concern for the farmers, the women and the youth, adding, "Congress toyed with this nation".

The polling for all 68 constituencies of Himcahal Pradesh will be held in a single-phase on November 9. The result would be declared on December 18.

Congress' chief ministerial candidate for Himachal pradesh is the six time and incumbent CM Virbhadra Singh, while the BJP CM candidate is two-time CM Prem Kumar Dhumal.
