Inspired by a Rajini movie, this man tried to extort money in Dawood’s name

He watched a Rajinikanth movie in which the star is telling corrupt officials to deposit money. This salesman from Maharashtra thought it would be a good idea to extort money from his customers.
Mohsin Firoze Khan worked at a grocery store and left his job 15 days back. After that he decided to call four of the customers whose number he picked up at the grocery store.
A few days back the residents of Jacob Circle in Mumbai received an SMS from an unknown number saying that Dawood Ibrahim would get upset if they did not deposit Rs 5 lakh in a particular bank account.
All of them thought it was a prank and ignored the message. A few days later all of them got another message from the same number saying Arun Gawli has asked them to deposit Rs 10 lakh.
They immediately went up to the police and showed them the message. The English was bad and the bank account number was fake, the police found. The police managed to track the number to Vapi in Gujarat.
The police tracked him down and later questioned him. He said that he had watched a Rajini starrer in which the actor asks corrupt persons for money to be deposited in a bank account. He decided that he would use the same trick to get money, but added that he used the names of Gawli and Dawood to create fear.
Khan however confessed that he did not want any of the money. He also added that he did this for fun. The police have however booked him for extortion and also secured his custody from a court till November 1.
