INLD's Diwali Event In Haryana's Chautala Village Attended By Pakistan MP

A felicitation ceremony organised by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) to celebrate the victory of its two legislators in the 2014 Haryana Assembly elections, both members of the Chautala family, saw the attendance of Pakistani Parliamentarian Abdul Rehman Kanju.

The event, which coincided with Diwali celebrations, sparked interest among locals, particularly the youth, as the presence of a Pakistani lawmaker at a function in the well-known Chautala village in Sirsa became a talking point.

The party also shared on its social media account how the residents of Chautala village gave a grand reception to the event's chief guest, Kanju.

The ceremony was held to celebrate the resurgence of INLD in Haryana's political landscape and to mark the Chautala family's continuation of their political legacy, reported IANS.

In the 2019 elections, INLD faced a major defeat, with only Abhay Singh Chautala retaining his seat.

However, in the 2024 elections, the party made modest gains. Arjun Chautala secured the Rania Assembly seat, and Aditya Devilal Chautala won Dabwali, both with margins of around 50,000 votes.

Abdul Rehman Kanju expressed his gratitude to the people of Chautala village for their warm welcome, saying he was deeply touched by their affection and hospitality.

Reflecting on his ancestral roots in a village near Punjab, he spoke about losing his father at a young age and the support he received from the Chautala family during that difficult period.

He expressed his thanks to the Chautala family for their long-standing support, acknowledging their dedication to public welfare over the decades, which continues to this day.

Kanju also extended Diwali greetings to the villagers and wished former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala a long life.

Addressing the crowd, he said, "I appeal to the youth to always respect their elders, as they are our guiding force."

The INLD issued an official statement regarding the previous evening's Diwali celebration and felicitation event, stating that the presence of the Pakistani chief guest added a special touch.

"The hearts of all the villagers and our family member and MP Abdul Rehman Saheb, who came as the chief guest from Pakistan on this special occasion for the felicitation ceremony organised to welcome Aditya Devi Lal and Arjun Singh Chautala on the land of our ancestral village Chautala yesterday evening, express our deepest gratitude. His participation in the event has made it all the more special."

It is worth noting that Chautala village, located in Haryana's Sirsa district, has produced as many as five Members of Parliament, 14 MLAs, and a Deputy Prime Minister.
