'Infuse a strong dose of professional policing': Bedi to Karnataka police chief Neelamani

Police Commissioner Neelamani N Raju has been appointed the Director General of Police (DG-IGP) of Karnataka.

Puducherry Lt Governor and former IPS officer Kiran Bedi has congratulated Karnataka's first woman police chief Neelamani N Raju on her appointment. Bedi, on her Twitter handle, wished that Neelamani "provide caring leadership to all ranks".

"Wishing you Neelmani all strength to infuse a strong dose of professional policing and provide caring leadership to all ranks," Bedi tweeted on Tuesday.

Police Commissioner Neelamani N Raju has been appointed the Director General of Police (DG-IGP) of Karnataka. She is the first woman DGP in the history of the state police department.

Neelamani Raju, a native of Roorkee, Uttarakhand, was born on January 17, 1960. She 1983 batch IPS officer.

The Karnataka Government passed the order confirming her appointment on October 31st.

She had been serving as Bangalore Rural SP for some time. Later, she moved to the Central Services in 1993. She was out of state for more than 23 years and returned to the state services in 2016.

In May 2016, she took over as Director General of Police (Internal Security Division).

She will succeed incumbent DGI-IGP Rupak Kumar Dutta. Neelamani Raju will retire from service in January 2020 and will be in the DGP-IGP post for two years and three months.
