BJP Accused of Neglecting Delhis Inflated Water Bills Issue

The AAP condemned the BJP for its absence at a crucial all-party meeting convened by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to address the issue of inflated water bills in the city. The AAP alleged that the BJPs boycott of the meeting reflects their opposition to the proposed one-time settlement scheme designed to provide relief to lakhs of affected residents.

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its absence at an all-party meeting convened to discuss a proposed one-time settlement scheme aimed at rectifying inflated water bills in the capital. The AAP's national spokesperson and Delhi Urban Development Minister, Saurabh Bharadwaj, expressed his disappointment over the BJP's boycott of the meeting, which was called by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to address this pressing issue.

BJPs Absence Raises Eyebrows in Delhis Inflated Water Bills Saga

BJP's Absence Indicates Opposition to Relief Scheme

Bharadwaj alleged that the BJP was actively working through its officers to obstruct the implementation of the one-time settlement scheme. He highlighted the BJP's refusal to attend the all-party meeting, stating that their absence clearly indicated their opposition to the scheme, which aims to provide relief to lakhs of people in Delhi.

Kejriwal: BJP Engaging in Dirty Politics

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed his displeasure over the BJP's absence, stating that it exposed their true intentions. He emphasized that the AAP government was committed to considering any suggestions from the BJP, but their absence demonstrated their lack of interest in resolving the issue. Kejriwal expressed confidence that the one-time settlement scheme would waive off water bills for approximately 90% of the people in Delhi, although it would require the Delhi government to provide subsidy money to the Delhi Jal Board.

Pressure on Officers, Mobilization of People

Kejriwal raised concerns about the pressure being exerted on officers by the central government, which oversees issues related to services. He revealed that some officers had approached him, expressing fears of threats and job loss for supporting the scheme. In response, Kejriwal emphasized the need to take the issue to the people and mobilize them, as it was a matter of significant importance.

AAP's Efforts to Resolve the Issue

Bharadwaj highlighted the AAP's efforts to bring all prominent parties of Delhi together to discuss the matter across party lines. He mentioned that Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, was invited to attend the meeting along with another MLA. However, Bidhuri and another BJP MLA failed to attend, which Bharadwaj interpreted as a lack of concern for the basic issues faced by the people of Delhi.

Delhi Congress President's Perspective

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) chief Arvinder Singh Lovely also addressed the media after the meeting. He expressed his belief that no political party should show reluctance or weakness when it comes to providing relief to the people of Delhi. Lovely criticized the BJP for avoiding the all-party meeting, which could have led to logical discussions and potential solutions.

The AAP's accusations against the BJP over the one-time settlement scheme have intensified the political discourse in Delhi. The AAP's commitment to addressing the concerns of the people stands in contrast to the BJP's perceived lack of interest in resolving pressing issues. As the matter unfolds, it remains to be seen how the political dynamics will play out and whether the proposed scheme will ultimately be implemented to provide relief to the residents of Delhi.
