Indore Couple’s Meghalaya Trip Turns Tragic: New Video Reveals Chilling Clues

A fresh CCTV clip has added a new layer to the mystery surrounding the disappearance of an Indore couple in Meghalaya. In the footage, Sonam Raghuvanshi is seen removing her jacket and adjusting her hair, while her husband Raja steps out moments later, takes a few items from their suitcase, and hands them to her. Notably, the white shirt Sonam is seen wearing in this video was later found near Raja's body, intensifying concerns over her whereabouts.

The CCTV footage, aired by T7 News Channel, shows the couple arriving at a homestay in Shillong on a scooter to drop off their luggage before riding away. That same scooter was later found abandoned near the spot where Raja's body was discovered.

Timeline and Disappearance

Raja Raghuvanshi (29) and his wife Sonam had married on May 11, 2025. Just days later, on May 20, they left Indore for Meghalaya to celebrate their honeymoon. The couple was last seen on May 23 near Cherrapunji (Sohra) before they mysteriously disappeared.

Body Recovered, Sonam Still Missing

Raja's body was recovered from a deep gorge in the East Khasi Hills district on May 27, around 20 kilometers from their Shillong homestay. The body was located using drone surveillance. Near the body, police recovered a machete believed to be the murder weapon. A murder case has been registered, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been set up to investigate.

Despite extensive efforts by Meghalaya Police, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and a Special Operations Team, there has been no trace of Sonam. Her family suspects she may have been kidnapped.

CCTV Footage Provides New Clues

The CCTV footage from May 22 offers vital clues. The video, 4 minutes and 53 seconds long, captures Raja and Sonam arriving at the homestay in black jackets, wheeling a white suitcase. The couple appears relaxed and in good spirits. Raja is seen speaking to the receptionist, while Sonam takes off her jacket and adjusts her hair. Moments later, Raja reappears, pulls a few items from the suitcase, and gives them to Sonam. One of those items was a white shirt, later found near Raja's body.

Families Demand CBI Probe

Raja and Sonam's families are demanding that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) take over the case, alleging that local law enforcement is failing to investigate the matter thoroughly. They believe the case involves foul play, possibly including looting, kidnapping, and premeditated murder. At Raja's funeral, posters read, "I did not die, I was killed," reflecting their strong belief that this was no accident.

Official Response

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured that the investigation is being taken seriously. He also stated that he is personally monitoring the progress of the case.

As investigators continue their search and scrutiny of evidence, the whereabouts of Sonam remain unknown, deepening the tragedy and raising serious concerns about what happened during the couple's ill-fated honeymoon in Meghalaya.
