IndiGo Patna To Delhi Flight Makes Emergency Landing, Know The Reason Behind Panic Situation

An IndiGo Patna to Delhi flight made an emergency landing on Wednesday morning after a bird collided with the aircraft, officials informed PTI. The flight, carrying 175 passengers, returned to Patna due to a technical issue in the engine caused by a bird strike. Fortunately, all passengers were safe as the emergency landing was executed safely.

Patna Airport's Challenges

The Patna airport is among India's most hazardous due to its short runway and increased risk of bird strikes. The Hindustan Times reported that the IndiGo flight, 6E 5009, departed from Patna at 8:42 am but had to return shortly after takeoff because of the incident.

Safety Measures and Concerns

An IndiGo representative mentioned, "We are making alternate arrangements for the passengers as the aircraft has been grounded." The airport's challenges include not only its short runway but also various obstructions. Additionally, nearby slaughterhouses in Phulwarisharif attract birds, increasing the likelihood of such incidents.

The newspaper noted that Patna airport is one of India's 11 most critical airports. In response to these ongoing issues, the Bihar government has previously sought assistance from a multidisciplinary team from the Centre to address and rectify these concerns effectively.
