IndiGo Passenger’s Post Goes Viral: Paid For A Window Seat, Got This Instead

A Chennai-based sports commentator, Pradeep Muthu, recently faced an unexpected situation while travelling on an IndiGo flight. Despite booking a window seat, he found himself seated next to a solid wall panel instead of a window.

Sharing his experience on X, formerly known as Twitter, Muthu posted a picture of himself sitting beside the wall, writing, "Dei @IndiGo6E I paid for a window seat da.. where is the window #TravelParithabangal."

His post quickly gained traction, amassing 896 lakh views and 752 comments at the time of reporting. Many users related to his experience, revealing that several aircraft have window seats without windows due to structural design. While some passengers found humour in the situation, others criticised the airline for not informing customers beforehand.

One user jokingly commented, "IndiGo gave you the best view of all - your reflection." Another quipped, "At least they didn't charge you extra for 'exclusive privacy from outside distractions.'" Others suggested that IndiGo rename such seats as "wall seats" to avoid misleading passengers.

However, some users expressed frustration, arguing that airlines should be more transparent about seating arrangements, especially when passengers pay extra. A few even called for clearer seat maps during booking to prevent confusion.

This is not the first time a passenger has encountered such an issue. Several airlines have aircraft with windowless seats due to factors like emergency exit placements or design adjustments.

IndiGo has yet to respond to the viral post. Meanwhile, the debate continues online, with many urging airlines to improve communication about seat details before passengers make their selections.
