IndiGo Flight, With SP MP Dimple Yadav And 151 Others Onboard, Faces Technical Snag

Passengers aboard an IndiGo Delhi-bound flight at Lucknow airport faced a tense few moments on Saturday morning when the aircraft suddenly aborted its takeoff. Among the 151 passengers was Samajwadi Party MP and wife for former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, who escaped unhurt along with others.

The incident unfolded around 11 am. As the jet accelerated down the runway, witnesses recalled the plane struggling to lift off. With only a short distance left before the tarmac ended, the pilot slammed the brakes, bringing the aircraft to a jolting halt. The quick reaction prevented what could have been a serious runway overrun.

Inside the cabin, the atmosphere shifted from confusion to relief as the plane came to a standstill. Within minutes, all passengers and crew safely disembarked.

Airline's Assurances

IndiGo later issued a statement, confirming that passengers were accommodated on an alternative flight to Delhi. The airline stressed that safety was never compromised, though it did not reveal the exact cause of the failed takeoff attempt.

A String of Troubles for IndiGo

The incident adds to a growing list of technical snags that IndiGo has faced in recent months. Earlier in September, a Kochi-Abu Dhabi service had to return mid-air due to a fault, while in August, an Airbus A321 suffered a tail strike during a go-around at Mumbai airport in heavy rains.

In each case, pilots followed safety protocols, preventing any loss of life. Aviation experts note that such incidents highlight the importance of swift decision-making in critical moments.
