IndiGo Flight Incident: Passenger’s Seat Suddenly Jerks Mid-Flight; You'll Be Shocked To See Why | Watch Video
A passenger named Daksh Rathi experienced a frightening moment on an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Lucknow when his seat suddenly began swaying back and forth shortly after takeoff. Rathi described the incident as a "mini heart attack" and shared a video of the experience on Instagram.
In the video, Rathi and two other passengers can be seen seated in a row when their seats unexpectedly start moving. He later recalled the event, calling it terrifying.
"As soon as the flight took off, everybody was engaged in their own activities, and suddenly, the three seats jerked backwards. It was not a good feeling at all. It felt like a free fall in a flying aircraft... this was like a mini heart attack," Rathi said in the video.
He further wrote that he had never faced such an issue before and was shocked by how the seats could swing back and forth.
Crew Response
Rathi highlighted that the cabin crew acted quickly by relocating the affected passengers to empty seats. The airline also arranged for maintenance staff to inspect the faulty seats after landing.
"It may not seem like a serious issue, but I would not want an elderly person with a medical condition to sit on such a seat in a flying aircraft," he added.
IndiGo's Response
IndiGo responded to Rathi's video by apologising for the incident and assuring him that the matter was being taken seriously.
"Mr. Rathi, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. We sincerely apologise for your experience. Apparently, this was an anomaly, a very unusual occurrence as these seats have a locking mechanism," the airline commented on his post.
IndiGo further stated that the feedback was being thoroughly investigated. "We understand our crew responded promptly and provided an alternate seat. The safety and comfort of our passengers remain our top priority," the airline added.
Mixed Reactions Online
The incident sparked varied reactions on social media. One user joked, "BYOS - bring your own seat," while another criticised IndiGo's service, saying, "This is happening too often due to a lack of competition. IndiGo has been in poor condition over the last several months. I travelled twice, and both times, the seats were damaged."
However, another user praised Rathi's approach to sharing his experience. "I liked how you shared your story without blaming the airline outright. It speaks volumes about you," the comment read.
The incident has raised concerns over seat safety, with passengers calling for stricter maintenance checks to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
