In a post on X, Ashwini Vaishnaw shared, "Terminal for India's first bullet train! Sabarmati multimodal transport hub, Ahmedabad." This marks a significant step forward for the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which is overseeing the development of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor.

Notably, the project has achieved several milestones. Over 100 kilometers of viaducts and 230 kilometers of pier work have been completed so far. The viaducts encompass bridges over six Gujarat rivers, including Par, Auranga, Purna, Mindhola, Ambika, and Venganiya, showcasing substantial progress in Valsad and Navsari districts.

NHSRCL revealed the impressive pace of construction, with the use of innovative methods such as the Full Span Launching Technique (FSLM) contributing significantly. This cutting-edge approach, launching 40-meter long box girders, has expedited the process, making it ten times faster than conventional methods used for building metro viaducts.

In addition to the viaduct work, 250 kilometers of pier work have been accomplished. Noise barrier installation along the constructed viaduct has also commenced, enhancing the project's infrastructure.

Furthermore, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor is implementing the first reinforced concrete (RC) track bed, following the model used in the Japanese Shinkansen, and its installation has commenced in Surat.

As for the project's finances, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, totaling Rs 1.08 lakh crore, has a funding structure involving contributions from the Union government, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. Japan has also extended a significant loan at 0.1% interest for the venture.

The foundation stone for this ambitious bullet train project was laid in Ahmedabad in September 2017. Once operational, the train is poised to cover a distance of over 500 km in approximately two hours, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities.
