India's Precision Strikes on Eight Pakistani Military Bases Lead to Peace Negotiations
Government sources revealed that Pakistan sought peace after India destroyed eight of its air bases. This action led to a request for a ceasefire, highlighting India's firm stance. The sources stated that there was no need for third-party mediation, despite US President Donald Trump's claims of American involvement in the peace process.

The Indian military's precision strikes targeted key Pakistani installations, including air defence systems and radar sites. These actions were in response to Pakistan's attempts to attack 26 Indian targets, such as air force stations in Udhampur, Pathankot, and Adampur on May 9 and 10. The Indian counter-attack was launched on Saturday morning.
India's Precision Strikes
Indian forces targeted several Pakistani military sites, including Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian. Radar sites at Pasrur and Sialkot aviation base were also hit with precision munitions, causing significant damage. These strikes followed Pakistan's attempts to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10.
The Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both countries reached an understanding to halt military actions without third-party involvement. This agreement contradicted Trump's statement about US mediation. The DGMOs' conversation led to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announcing the ceasefire on Saturday evening.
US Mediation Claims
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio informed External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar that Pakistan understood the message after being hit by Indian missiles. This communication diluted Trump's claim of American mediation in the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.
Sources dismissed Washington's assertions about brokering the ceasefire. They emphasised that the only discussions between India and Pakistan would be direct talks between their DGMOs. The sources also downplayed US comments on mediation regarding Kashmir.
Kashmir Issue Stance
A source stated that India has no discussions with Islamabad on Kashmir other than the return of illegally-occupied Jammu and Kashmir territories by Pakistan. They stressed that there is nothing else to discuss and rejected any third-party involvement in this matter.
The understanding between the DGMOs led to an immediate halt to all military actions on land, air, and sea. This agreement marked a significant step towards de-escalating tensions between India and Pakistan without external intervention.
