Womans Harrowing Journey: From Oman Captivity to Home Sweet Home

MLA Intervenes to Secure Release

Earlier this week, Mukesh had claimed that his wife, who had been working as a cook in Oman since March 2022, was being held hostage and tortured by her employer. He sought the government's help to bring her back.

MLA Sen, who represents the Vaishali Nagar seat in Durg district, took action after hearing Mukesh's plea during a public grievances redressal program. He contacted local police officials and informed Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Home Minister Vijay Sharma, and Assembly Speaker Raman Singh about the situation.

Escape and Embassy Assistance

With the help of Sen's intervention, Dipika managed to get hold of a mobile phone and contacted him. She informed him about her situation and her employer's mistreatment. Sen advised her to escape and reach the Indian Embassy in Muscat.

Dipika managed to flee, but no taxi operator agreed to take her to the embassy. Sen then contacted some Indian acquaintances in Oman, who helped her reach the embassy safely.

Challenges in Repatriation

Sen faced challenges in arranging for Dipika's immediate return to India, as there were approximately 50 other women at the embassy seeking repatriation after facing similar ordeals.

He claimed that a man named Abdullah from Hyderabad had sold Dipika for Rs 2 lakh on the pretext of sending her for a job. Sen requested embassy officials to prioritize her case and offered to pay for her airfare.

Collaborative Efforts for Safe Return

The Indian Embassy officials informed Sen that they would arrange for Dipika's travel to Delhi, while he would be responsible for the expenses of her onward journey.

Sen successfully arranged a ticket for Dipika from Delhi, and she arrived in Raipur on the same evening. The police will now record her statement to facilitate the arrest of Abdullah and others involved in such crimes.

Gratitude for Support

Sen expressed his gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi, Chief Minister Sai, Home Minister Sharma, and Assembly Speaker Raman Singh for their efforts in bringing Dipika back to India.
