Want to travel abroad? Your dreams might come true soon as the Indian Railways is all set to commence international train services between India and Bhutan.

The Indian Railways with an aim to improve international tourism decided to operate trains between the two nations.
While addressing on the international train services between India and Bhutan, Minister Of External Affairs Dr. S Jaishankar asserted that the initiative has been taken as Bhutan is eager to expand its tourist spots for the people.
As per ANI's report, EAM Dr S Jaishankar said, "We are in talks on the rail link between Bhutan and Assam, Bhutan is very keen to open more points for tourists and it is very good for Assam, Says EAM Dr S Jaishankar."
Likewise, India is on the verge to boost connectivity with Nepal and Bangladesh, Jaishankar added.
According to the media reports, the survey to start the construction of the railway link between India and Bhutan had been completed in April 2023. The railway line will connect Bhutan's Gelephu and Kokrajar in India's Assam. The construction work of this 57-km railway link is expected to be completed by 2026 and will be funded by the Indian government. It is to be noted that the train on this route will be operated by the Northeastern Frontier (NF) Railways.
Train services from India to Bhutan would be the first-ever railway connection and is expected to be completed by 2026.
Earlier this year, Bhutan's Foreign Minister Dr Tandi Dorji had said that the Bhutan government will try connecting with regions like Samtse, Phuentsholing, Nganglam, and Samdrupjongkhar after this project turns becomes successful.
