Indian Railways PRS Upgrade: Now Capable of Booking 25,000 Tickets Per Minute – Details Inside

Indian Railways has significantly enhanced its Passenger Reservation System (PRS), which can now handle bookings at a speed of 25,000 tickets per minute. Announcing the upgrade in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said capacity enhancement and technological modernisation remain a continuous process for Indian Railways.

Complete Overhaul of PRS

Vaishnaw explained that the PRS has undergone a comprehensive upgradation, involving the replacement of hardware, software, network equipment, security systems, and functionalities with modern technology capable of supporting advanced features. The project has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 182 crore.

According to the minister, the newly upgraded system is designed to handle more than four times the current booking capacity, ensuring smoother and faster service for passengers across the country.

RailOne App for Easy Ticketing

Highlighting efforts to improve user experience, Vaishnaw pointed to initiatives in digital ticketing. He noted that the Railways recently launched the RailOne App, which allows passengers to book both reserved and unreserved tickets directly on their mobile devices. "This essentially puts the PRS facility in the passengers' palms," he remarked.

With these upgrades, Indian Railways aims to make ticket booking more efficient, reliable, and accessible for millions of daily commuters.
