Indian Navy Showcases Precision Strike Power With Missile Tests Amid India-Pakistan Tensions

In the Arabian Sea, the Indian Navy successfully fired several anti-ship missiles, showcasing its long-range precision strike capabilities amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror assault.

The Navy published images of BrahMos anti-ship and anti-surface cruise missiles being launched from a variety of warships, including frigates of the Nilgiri and Krivak classes and destroyers of the Kolkata class. The purpose of these exercises was to confirm that the crew, platforms, and systems were prepared for precise offensive operations at sea.

"To confirm and show that platforms, systems, and crew are prepared for long-range precise offensive strikes, Indian Navy ships successfully conducted a number of anti-ship firings. The Indian Navy said in a post on X (previously Twitter) that it is "combat-ready, credible, and future-ready in safeguarding the nation's maritime interests Anytime, Anywhere, Anyhow."

Concerns about increased military posture between the two nations were stoked by the drills, which took place soon after Pakistan announced its own planned missile firings in the Arabian Sea.

India's marine prowess comes after the terror assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, which claimed 26 lives and was one of the worst since Article 370 was repealed.

Strong diplomatic measures have been taken by New Delhi in the wake of the incident, such as suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and deporting Pakistani nationals. Pakistan declared that all bilateral deals with India would be suspended in retaliation.

Indian military have reacted forcefully to ongoing ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC), which have further inflamed tensions. The Indian side has not yet confirmed any casualties.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi denounced the Pahalgam incident in his most recent "Mann Ki Baat" speech, saying, "Every Indian's blood is boiling after the terror attack." They are all experiencing the anguish of those who have lost their own. He pointed out that "peace was returning to Kashmir, but the enemies of the country, of Jammu and Kashmir, did not like this."
