Indian Navy's Commitment to Maritime Security Highlighted by President Droupadi Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu expressed confidence in the Indian Navy's ability to safeguard the nation's maritime interests. During Navy Day celebrations at Odisha's Blu Flag Beach, she invoked 'Varuna,' the God of the Ocean, for India's holistic development. As the supreme commander of India's defence forces, Murmu highlighted the Navy's crucial role in ensuring maritime security, essential for India's growth into a developed nation by 2047.

President Murmu on Indian Navys Security Role

The President praised the Navy's integration of advanced technology and tactical skills, which were evident in the operational demonstrations. She noted that these displays showcased the Navy's evolution into a combat-ready and credible force. Murmu emphasised that with 63 ships being built domestically, the Navy's commitment to becoming self-reliant by 2047 inspires innovation across sectors.

Indian Navy's Achievements and Future Goals

Murmu highlighted India's unique position as one of only six nations capable of designing, building, and operating both a Ballistic Missile Nuclear Submarine and an Aircraft Carrier. She commended the Navy's efforts in empowering women, acknowledging its pivotal role in India's victory during the 1971 war. The President also celebrated India's rich maritime history spanning over 5,000 years.

On Navy Day, Murmu extended her best wishes to all naval personnel. The day commemorates India's triumph in the 1971 war and honours the sacrifices made by naval forces in defending the nation. She applauded the Navy's pioneering steps in providing growth opportunities for women, noting it was the first service to induct women Agniveers.

Empowering Women and Celebrating Achievements

The President mentioned Lieutenant Commander Dilna K and Lieutenant Commander Roopa as examples of women's empowerment within the Navy. These officers are circumnavigating the globe on INSV Tarini as part of 'Navika Sagar Parikrama II.' Murmu wished success to the Indian Navy in its future endeavours, hoping for continued victories under Varuna's blessings.

Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi spoke about recent achievements that have elevated India's naval status globally. He highlighted enhanced cooperation through bilateral and multilateral engagements with other navies, reinforcing India’s image as a responsible partner in regional security and growth.

Navy Day Celebrations on Eastern Coast

Admiral Tripathi assured citizens that the Navy remains a combat-ready and cohesive force, prepared to protect India's maritime interests anytime and anywhere. The action-packed Navy Day celebrations featured impressive displays of maritime capabilities, air power, and operational excellence.

This event marked the first Navy Day celebration on India's eastern coast. It included an operational demonstration showcasing the strength and versatility of India's naval fleet. The occasion commemorates strategic victories during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.

A total of 15 warships, 37 aircraft, and a submarine participated in demonstrations featuring aerial dominance by fighter jets, combat free falls, slithering operations by MARCOS, submarine displays, and rocket firing by warships. Thousands of spectators witnessed these breathtaking maneuvers.
