Indian Mining Tycoon Harpal Randhawa And His Son Amer Killed In Zimbabwe Plane Crash| Details

India's mining tycoon and billionaire Harpal Randhawa and his 22-year-old son Amer, along with four others, tragically lost their lives in a plane crash in Zimbabwe on 29th September. The accident occurred when their private aircraft, a Cessna 206, crashed near a diamond mine in southwestern Zimbabwe due to a technical fault.

Harpal Randhawa was the owner of RioZim, a prominent mining company involved in gold, coal, nickel, and copper production. He was also the founder of GEM Holdings, a private equity business with an estimated value of 4 billion dollars.

The fatal incident took place as the father and son were en route from Harare to the Murowa diamond mine, which is partly owned by RioZim. Unfortunately, the single-engined plane went down near the mine, resulting in the loss of all passengers and crew on board.

Harpal Randhawa was not only known for his business success but also for his generosity and humility. Filmmaker Hopewell Chinono, a friend of Mr. Randhawa, expressed his deep sorrow on social media, highlighting the billionaire's positive influence on those around him. Chinono mentioned how Randhawa had provided valuable life advice and introduced him to influential figures in business, diplomacy, and politics.

Chinono wrote on his social media handle X, "I am deeply saddened with the passing of Harpal Randhawa, the owner of Rio Zim who died today in a plane crash in Zvishavane. 5 other people including his son who was also a pilot, but a passenger on this flight also died in the crash."..."He was very generous with life advice, and very humble for the wealthy man that he was. Through him, I met many people in the business, diplomatic, and political worlds. My thoughts are with his wife, family, friends, and the Rio Zim community. Rest in Peace, your works and love for Zimbabwe will be your lasting legacy,"

Reportedly, the tragic incident has left a void in the hearts of the local community, and condolences have poured in from various quarters. As the community and law enforcement agencies work together to manage the aftermath of the plane crash, Chinono also put up a tweet informing of the memorial service for the father-son duo.
