Indian Matchmaking: UP Groom Stunned After Bride, Family 'Disappear' From Venue

In an unusual turn of events, a groom from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, named Sonu, found himself in a predicament when he couldn't locate his wedding venue or the bride's family upon arriving in Lucknow's Rahimabad area with his wedding procession.

Sonu had met a woman named Kajal in Chandigarh, and the two forged a romantic relationship, reported India Today.

They later decided to get married, and Sonu spoke to Kajal's father, Sheeshpal, over the phone. Sheeshpal agreed for the marriage and set the wedding date for July 11.

The day before the wedding, Kajal assured Sonu that all arrangements were in place and relatives had gathered.

"She told me, 'Now come with the baraat, I won't be able to talk to you'," Sonu recounted.

However, when Sonu arrived with his wedding procession, neither the bride nor her family was at the given address.

Throughout the night, he tried to contact them, but their phones were switched off. Locals informed him that no such individuals lived in the area.

Lucknow Police's Joint Commissioner Akash Kulhari speaking on the incident said, "A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to locate Kajal and her family who invited the groom with the wedding procession and then disappeared."
