Her family was informed about the death of Asima Khatoon when they received an anonymous call from Riyadh, stating that Asima was no more.

Asima, had earlier called her family and lamented how badly she was being treated by her employers. She had also requested them to make arrangements for her return home at any cost.
Just three daus before her death, the Chief Secretary of Telangana Dr. Rajiv Sharma had made a request in writing to bring her back.
A resident of Dabeerpura, she left for Riyadh in December 2015 on a 'house maid' visa through an agent.
Since the government had stopped issuing a 'house maid' visa, she was sent on a business trip visa for a period of 90 days, prior to which she was illegally kept in confinement. Though there was no information from her since her departure, she called home two months ago and told them how she was being tortured mentally and physically by her employer Abdul Rahman Ali Mohammed. The police is presently investigating the case.
