IAS trainee drowns in a Delhi pool, Police rules out foul play

A lady officer accidentally fell into the pool and the officers, including Dahiya, jumped in to rescue her.

The Delhi police has rule out foul play in connection with drowning of an Indian Administrative Service trainee in a swimming pool on Tuesday near Delhi's Ber Sarai.

Ishwar Singh, DCP South Delhi told media, 'Reason of death is drowning and have requested that post-mortem be conducted by a team of doctors.'

The deceased, Ashish Dahiya (30), was a resident of Sonipat, Haryana and was attending a pool side party with friends from the Indian foreign and revenue services. During the party, they decided to go for a swim in the pool located at the club.Police suspect they had consumed alcohol.

According to eyewitnesses, a lady officer accidentally fell into the pool and the officers, including Dahiya, jumped in to rescue her, police said. As the lady officer was safely pulled out, it was noticed that Ashish was missing. He was found floating in the pool. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

ANI reported that Delhi Police investigating the case.
