The event was not just an ordinary military function but also had elements of traditional Indian rituals. Post-induction, a Sarva Dharma Pooja was performed in the hangar to mark this auspicious occasion. Adding to this cultural touch, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made symbolic gestures by inscribing Swastika and Om signs on the livery of the aircraft. The presence of IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari and Spanish envoy in India Jose Maria Ridao further added significance to this event. Senior officials from both Airbus and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), who are instrumental partners in this project were also present.

C-295: A Significant Addition To Squadron No.11

The newly introduced C-295 medium tactical aircraft has been assigned to Squadron No. 11 of the IAF, one of its oldest squadrons currently stationed at Vadodara Air Force Station. This medium-lift tactical aircraft is known for its ability to take off and land from unprepared landing grounds - a feature that will significantly enhance IAF's operational flexibility.

Replacing HS-748 Avro Aircraft

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his views about C-295 on social media platform X after attending the unveiling ceremony at Hindon Air Force Station stating that it is set to replace HS-748 Avro aircraft which has served long years for IAF’s transportation needs.

Airbus-Tata Partnership

The induction of C-295 is a result of the collaboration between global aerospace giant Airbus and Indian conglomerate Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL). This partnership represents a significant stride in India's pursuit towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing, aligning with the country's 'Make in India' initiative. The project also showcases successful cooperation between public and private sectors, as well as domestic and international entities.

In conclusion, the introduction of C-295 transport aircraft into the IAF marks an important milestone not only for India’s military aviation but also for its indigenous defence production capabilities. It signifies a major step forward in modernizing the nation’s air force while promoting self-sufficiency through collaborations between national and international defense firms. As this new chapter unfolds, it will be interesting to see how this induction impacts IAF's operational readiness and adaptability in diverse scenarios.
