India and US Conduct Comprehensive Review of Strategic Cooperation in Defence and Technology
India and the United States recently evaluated their strategic partnership across various sectors, such as defence, technology, and clean energy. This assessment occurred during a 2+2 inter-sessional meeting in Delhi, as reported by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Both nations reviewed progress in their bilateral agenda, including space cooperation and resilient supply chains.

The discussions also covered maritime domain awareness and development cooperation, which includes trilateral collaborations and people-to-people connections. The MEA highlighted that both sides shared insights on several regional and global issues. This inter-sessional meeting set the stage for the upcoming 2+2 ministerial dialogue aimed at enhancing the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
Focus on Defence and Technology
The Indian delegation was led by Nagaraj Naidu, Joint Secretary Americas in the MEA, along with Vishwesh Negi, Joint Secretary International Cooperation in the Defence Ministry. The American team was headed by Donald Lu, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, and Jedidiah P Royal, US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs.
Both countries took stock of developments in strategic cooperation and technology collaboration. They also explored ways to strengthen their defence ties further. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss advancements in these areas and plan future initiatives.
Clean Energy and Maritime Awareness
Clean energy was another key topic during the discussions. Both sides examined ongoing projects and potential new ventures to promote sustainable energy solutions. Maritime domain awareness was also a significant focus, with both nations looking to enhance their capabilities in this area.
The meeting allowed both countries to exchange views on these critical sectors. It also helped identify areas where they could work together more effectively to address shared challenges.
