India Today-Karvy Insights predicts DMK set to form new govt in Tamil Nadu

An opinion poll conducted by India Today-Karvy Insights predicts that DMK is all set to form new government in Tamil Nadu.

According to the poll, if Tamil Nadu assembly elections due in 2021, were to be held today, the ruling AIADMK would get 68 assembly seats out of the 234 as compared to the 135 it won in the 2016 assembly elections. This will be substantially loss to the party. And, the DMK and its allies -- the Congress and the IUML -- would together secure 130 constituencies, with a vote share of 34 percent. It can be recalled that in 2016, the DMK won 88 seats on its own.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth's party will 33 seats with a voteshare of 16 per cent and there will be negligible impact of Kamal Hassan.
