In terms of vote share the BJP is expected to get 35 per cent of the vote share in this region. For the Congress it is likely to be 41 per cent and the JD(S) would end up with a vote share of 17 per cent, the exit poll has predicted.

The opinion polls had however predicted a big win for the BJP in the Central Karnataka region. Many opinion polls had said that the party will end up winning 13 of the 23 seats.

Almost all exit polls have predicted a close fight between the BJP and Congress. Most of the exit polls suggest that Karnataka which has 224 seats will end up with a hung mandate.

With the manner in which the pollsters are predicting the elections, it appears that the JD(S) could end up playing kingmaker again. Congress chief D K Shivakumar however ruled out any post-poll coalition in Karnataka. He expressed confidence that the party win the elections on its own. Former chief minister, Siddaramaiah had earlier predicted that the party would win the elections on its own. He said that the party would end up with 130 seats.
