India Slams Pakistan Over Ram Temple Flag‑Hoisting Comments: “No Moral Standing”
India firmly pushed back against Pakistan's criticism of the recent flag-hoisting ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stating that Islamabad has no credibility to comment on the issue.

The sharp response came after Pakistan alleged that the event reflected growing pressure on religious minorities in India and an effort to erase Muslim heritage.
MEA Calls Out Pakistan's Record
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed Islamabad's comments, asserting that Pakistan's own history of discrimination makes its objections irrelevant.
"We have seen the reported remarks and reject them with the contempt they deserve. As a country with a deeply stained record of bigotry, repression and systemic mistreatment of its minorities, Pakistan has no moral standing to lecture others," Jaiswal said at the weekly briefing.
He further added, "Pakistan should focus on its own abysmal human rights records, rather than delivering hypocritical homilies."
According to Jaiswal, the attempt to comment on India's internal matters was yet another instance of misplaced focus by Pakistan's leadership.
Pakistan's Protest Over Ayodhya
The MEA response followed statements from Pakistan criticizing the recent Dhwajarohan Utsav at the Ram Temple. Islamabad claimed the ceremony was connected to increasing pressure on India's religious minorities and alleged efforts to erase Muslim heritage. India categorically rejected these assertions, reiterating that Pakistan should introspect on its own treatment of minority groups instead of making baseless allegations.
Significance of the Flag-Hoisting
The ceremony in Ayodhya took place on Tuesday, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted a saffron flag atop the shikhar of the newly built Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Temple. The event marked the completion of the temple's construction and was described as deeply symbolic.
PM Modi called the moment personally moving, saying the experience left a profound impact on him. "Pran jaaye par vachan na jaaye, jo kaha jaaye wohi kia jaaye," he said, emphasising the message of commitment and devotion symbolised by the flag.
Leaders Present at the Ceremony
Prime Minister Modi was joined by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat during the ceremony. The presence of top leaders underscored the cultural and emotional significance attached to the completion of the Ram Temple and the ceremonial flag-hoisting.
