India and Singapore Enhance Defence Cooperation and Explore New Industry Collaborations
India and Singapore have decided to enhance their defence collaboration, focusing on industry cooperation in areas like automation and artificial intelligence. This decision was made during the sixth India-Singapore Defence Ministerial Dialogue, co-chaired by India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Singapore's Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen. A statement from the Defence Ministry confirmed these developments.

Defence Cooperation and Joint Military Training
The ministers agreed to extend the bilateral agreement on Joint Military Training Army for another five years. This extension highlights the strong defence ties between the two nations, which are based on a mutual interest in regional peace, stability, and security. The dialogue is significant as it coincides with a decade of India's Act East policy, where Singapore has been pivotal in fostering economic cooperation and strategic connectivity.
Industry Collaboration in Niche Domains
Both countries recognised their potential as natural partners for co-developing and co-producing defence equipment. They agreed to boost industry cooperation by exploring partnerships in niche domains such as automation and artificial intelligence. This move aims to leverage technological advancements for mutual benefit.
Emerging Areas of Cooperation
The ministers also decided to advance collaboration in emerging fields like cyber security. This decision reflects the growing importance of safeguarding digital infrastructure amid increasing cyber threats globally. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress in defence cooperation, noting regular engagements between their armed forces.
The meeting underscored the deep-rooted bilateral defence relations between India and Singapore. These relations are built on shared perspectives regarding regional peace and security.
