Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Declares India Not a Dharmshala for Infiltrators in Jharkhand
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed concerns about state-sponsored infiltration in Jharkhand. Speaking at an election rally in Ranchi, he criticised the JMM-led government for allegedly supporting infiltrators. He stated, "India is not a dharmshala where anyone can come and settle." Chouhan accused the ruling coalition of using these infiltrators as a vote bank, claiming they were being helped to obtain voter IDs and other documents.

Chouhan highlighted the impact of infiltration on the tribal population in Santhal Parganas. He claimed that their numbers had decreased from 44% to 28%. He promised that if the BJP comes to power, a citizenship register would be created to remove infiltrators. He emphasised that India's resources, including land and water, belong to its citizens and should be protected from outsiders.
Focus on Development Schemes
During a BJP women's conference in East Singhbhum district, Chouhan criticised the JMM-led government for not properly implementing the PM Awas Yojana. He argued that if executed correctly, women would have received permanent houses by now. Chouhan assured that the BJP would ensure pucca houses for women still living in temporary structures if elected.
Chouhan also alleged corruption in the Har Ghar Nal Se Jal Yojana, claiming Rs 5,000 crores were misappropriated. He accused the government of starting monthly payments of Rs 1,000 to women only as elections approached. He pledged that under BJP rule, women would receive Rs 2,100 per month.
Upcoming Elections
Jharkhand is set to hold elections on November 13 and 20. The counting of votes will take place on November 23. Chouhan's statements reflect the BJP's campaign focus on addressing infiltration and improving development schemes in the state.
