India Imposes Restrictions on Laptop, Tablet, and PC Imports
India is all set to put restrictions on imports of laptops, tablets and personal computers with immediate effect, Reuters reported citing a government notice.
"Their import would be allowed against a valid licence for restricted imports," the notice said.

During the period of April-June, the imports of electronics, including laptops, tablets, and personal computers, amounted to $19.7 billion, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 6.25%.
"The move's spirit is to push manufacturing to India. It's not a nudge, it's a push," the news agency quoted Ali Akhtar Jafri, former director general at electronics industry body Manufacturers' Association of Information Technology, as saying.
It has to be noted that Dell, Acer, Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Apple Inc, Lenovo and HP Inc are the leading companies which are into selling laptops and PCs, with a significant portion of their products being imported from countries like China.
