India Unveils Bid to Host 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad

India has submitted its proposal to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Amdavad. The bid highlights a commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and a legacy for future generations.

India has officially presented its proposal to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, positioning Amdavad as the host city for the Centenary edition of the prestigious sporting event. The bid was submitted to the Evaluation Committee of Commonwealth Sport in London, marking a significant milestone in India’s sporting ambitions.

The Indian delegation was led by Shri Harsh Sanghavi, Hon’ble Minister of Sports, Government of Gujarat, and Dr. P T Usha, President of the Commonwealth Games Association (CGA) India. The team also included:

The 2030 edition of the Commonwealth Games holds historic significance, commemorating 100 years of the Commonwealth Sport Movement. India’s proposal outlines a compact and efficient Games footprint in Ahmedabad, featuring world-class venues, seamless transport infrastructure, and high-quality accommodation. The bid aligns with the "Games Reset" principles, emphasizing:

• Affordability and inclusivity
• Flexibility and sustainability
• Integration of para-sport
• Protection of human rights
• Promotion of gender equity
• A long-term legacy framework benefiting athletes, communities, and the wider Commonwealth

Ahmedabad Proven Track Record

Ahmedabad experience in hosting major sporting events strengthens India’s case. The city has successfully hosted the ICC Cricket World Cup, Indian Premier League, and the 2022 National Games. Upcoming events include:

• Asian Aquatics 2025
• Asian Weightlifting Championships 2026
• World Police and Fire Games 2029

These events add to the city’s operational readiness for 2030.
