India gets 'corrected', gains rank in CPI: Transparency International
New Delhi, Jan 28: According to the 2015 report of the global watchdog Transparency International (TI), India has gained 9 ranks up in the CPI. The CPI scores are based on how corrupt a country's public sector is.
In this regard, India has earned the 76th position out of a total of 168 countries and has scored 38 on the CPI out of 100. In fact, in the year 2014 and 2013, its CPI rank was 85 and 94 respectively.

For the third consecutive year, Denmark has been perceived as the least corrupted country in the world with a score of 91. Finland, Sweden, New Zealand and Netherlands have made up the rest of top five cleanest countries globally.
The CPI scale from 0 to 100, with 0 as the most corrupt and 100 as the cleanest, ranks India as 38th, but it has moved up in rank as other countries seemed not to have performed well. Among the other worst performers include Somalia, North KOrea, Afghanistan, and Sudan.
The CPI is decided based on the data provided by 12 sources, which include The Global Insight Country Risk Ratings, World Bank - Country Policy and Institutional Assessment 2014, World Economic Forum Executive Opinion Survey (EOS) 2015.
