The victory ended a 13-year wait for millions of cricket enthusiasts who idolise the players and follow the game religiously.

India Wins T20 World Cup

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X shortly after India's thrilling win over South Africa in Barbados. He stated, "CHAMPIONS! Our team brings the T20 World Cup home in STYLE! We are proud of the Indian Cricket Team," calling the match historic. The Prime Minister's message resonated with many as celebrations erupted nationwide.

Nationwide Celebrations

In Delhi, a large crowd gathered at India Gate to mark the occasion. Mumbai airport witnessed fans dancing to drum beats, while revellers climbed atop vehicles on the roads. Kolkata's streets were illuminated with firecrackers, and Bengaluru saw fans in Team India's attire dancing in pubs and outside eateries.

Social media platforms were inundated with congratulatory messages and images of celebratory scenes. The star-studded Indian team outplayed South Africa by seven runs in a nail-biting final that kept fans on edge until the last moment.

Fans' Reactions

A cricket fan expressed his joy, saying, "We are very ecstatic. I was a child when we last won. My throat is sore from shouting but we will celebrate for two days." This sentiment was echoed by many across the country who revelled in the victory.

In Jammu, both young and old celebrated with fireworks and chants of "Bharat Mata ki Jai." A reveller remarked, "The whole country is celebrating. It is like a Diwali for us." Similar scenes were witnessed outside the state secretariat in Hyderabad, where fireworks lit up the sky and people climbed on top of vehicles honking cheerily.

Praise for Team India

Many lauded the contributions of all players and coach Rahul Dravid. Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar shared an emotional message on X: "Every star added to the Team India jersey inspires our nation's starry-eyed children to move one step closer to their dreams. India gets the 4th star, our second in @T20WorldCup."

Tendulkar continued, "Life comes full circle for Indian cricket in the West Indies. From our lows in the 2007 ODI World Cup to becoming a cricketing powerhouse and winning the T20WC in 2024. Very happy for my friend Rahul Dravid, who missed out on the 2011 World Cup win but his contribution to this T20 World Cup victory has been immense."

The celebrations began as soon as the match concluded in Barbados around 11:30 PM IST. Joyous fans took to the streets, bursting firecrackers and celebrating well past midnight. The cricket-loving nation basked in glory as they revelled in their team's triumph.

Euphoric scenes were also seen outside Hyderabad's state secretariat with dazzling fireworks lighting up the sky. People climbed atop trucks, cars, and other vehicles honking joyfully as they celebrated India's victory.

Tendulkar further added, "It was wonderful to see Team India excel under the guidance of this class of '96. A total team effort. Hearty congratulations to all the players, coaches, support staff, and @BCCI."

The victory not only brought immense joy but also united fans across different cities like Jammu, Hyderabad, Patna, and Pune. People hugged and danced as they celebrated India's long-awaited world title win.

The Indian cricket team's success has indeed won the hearts of millions across the nation. The celebrations are a testament to India's passion for cricket and its unwavering support for its players.
