India Commends Cricket Team's Spirit After T20 World Cup Triumph

President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi were among the many who celebrated India's T20 World Cup victory. They praised the team's resilience as celebrations erupted nationwide.

Indias T20 World Cup Triumph Celebrated

Prime Minister Modi took to X shortly after India’s thrilling win against South Africa on Saturday night. He stated, "CHAMPIONS! Our team brings the T20 World Cup home in STYLE! We are proud of the Indian Cricket Team." He described the match as historic and noted that over 140 crore Indians felt proud of the team's performance.

Leaders Praise Team's Spirit

President Murmu congratulated Team India for their extraordinary victory. She said, "My heartiest congratulations to Team India for winning the T20 World Cup. With the never-say-die spirit, the team sailed through difficult situations and demonstrated outstanding skills throughout the tournament. It was an extraordinary victory in the final match. Well done, Team."

Rahul Gandhi also lauded the team’s performance throughout the tournament. He mentioned on X, "Surya, what a brilliant catch! Rohit, this win is a testament to your leadership. Rahul, I know team India will miss your guidance." He referred to coach Rahul Dravid, captain Rohit Sharma, and cricketer Surya Kumar Yadav.

Nationwide Celebrations

As soon as the match concluded in Barbados around 11:30 IST, fans took to the streets with tricolours, burst firecrackers, and chanted "India, India." Celebrations continued well past midnight across cities from Mumbai to Patna and Jammu to Bengaluru.

Union Minister Amit Shah called it a glorious moment for the nation. He said on X, "The nation swells with pride at their historic achievement." Defence Minister Rajnath Singh added that this victory would inspire many upcoming cricketers and sportspersons.

Global Recognition

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella congratulated India on winning the title. He posted on X, "What a final!!! Congrats, India, and well played, South Africa. Super World Cup... let us have more cricket in the West Indies and USA!!"

Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai also praised India's performance. He wrote on X, "What a game, could barely breathe, everything that makes sports incredible. Congrats India, so well deserved! SA was incredible. Amazing."

Entertainment Industry Joins In

Actors Ajay Devgn, Raveena Tandon, Anil Kapoor, and Abhishek Bachchan expressed their joy on social media. Devgn said, "Words can't describe the joy! Congratulations Team India, you've made history! This victory is etched in our hearts."

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti was among those who congratulated the men in blue.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju highlighted the team's relentless spirit and remarkable skill. He said on X, "Thank you for inspiring millions & showcasing the true spirit of sportsmanship!" Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge added that every Indian is proud of this incredible victory.

"Many Congratulations to the Men in Blue for their impressive display of talent and dedication," Kharge said. He mentioned Virat Kohli, Axar Patel, and Arshdeep Singh as standout performers.

India ended an 11-year wait for a global title by defeating South Africa by seven runs in a nail-biting final in Bridgetown on Saturday.
