INDIA Bloc's One Year-One PM Formula Will Destroy Country: PM Modi

As the election 2024 reaches phase two, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, indicated that the INDIA bloc is considering a one-year prime minister formula due to their inability to reach a consensus on a single prime ministerial candidate.

During a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh's Betul, it was stated by Modi that while he has been focusing on his first 100-day agenda after assuming power, the opposition alliance lacks a clear PM face.

Here's What PM Modi Said:

Modi emphasized the importance of the country knowing its PM face, contrasting himself with a track record of 10 years. He highlighted media reports suggesting discussions on a one-year-one PM formula, implying five prime ministers in five years, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Modi questioned the implications of this approach, expressing concerns about the country's stability and calling it akin to auctioning the PM's chair, which he described as a potentially destructive proposal.

PM Modi's Remarks Ahead of Lok Sabha Election 2024

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged that the Congress party dismissed claims made in its manifesto regarding wealth redistribution.
  • Modi criticised Congress for purportedly advocating religion-based reservation, which he claimed was driven by Congress's intention to redistribute quotas from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) to preferred vote banks.
  • Modi cited instances in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka where Congress allegedly attempted to implement religion-based or altered caste-based reservations, suggesting this as evidence of Congress's motives, as reported by Hindustan Times.
  • According to Modi, Congress's manifesto includes proposals for redistributing wealth, implying that Congress would seize assets such as cars, motorcycles, and houses from individuals deemed to possess excess and distribute them among favoured individuals.
  • Modi accused Congress of planning intrusive investigations into personal assets, including jewellery, and even hinted at seizing traditional jewellery like mangalsutras worn by married women.
  • Modi highlighted a proposal by a Congress leader advocating for an inheritance tax, which he characterized as an attempt to seize half of the property inherited from grandparents and parents.
  • Modi referenced historical support for an inheritance tax within Congress, citing a 2011 incident where a Congress minister allegedly supported the tax during a Planning Commission meeting, as per media reports.
  • Modi dismissed Congress's attempt to distance itself from certain statements, asserting that the party had previously shown support for such measures, including the inheritance tax proposal.
