INDIA Bloc Overcomes BJP in Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha Elections
In a significant electoral outcome, the INDIA bloc has outperformed the ruling BJP-led NDA in Uttar Pradesh's Lok Sabha seats, securing a notable victory in 43 out of 80 seats, as per the Election Commission. The Samajwadi Party (SP) emerged as a major victor within the bloc, clinching 37 seats, while the Congress Party added six seats to the coalition's tally. On the other hand, the BJP managed to win 33 seats, with its allies Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Apna Dal (Sonelal) securing two and one seat respectively.

Among notable victories, Chandrashekhar Azad of the Azad Samaj Party Kanshi Ram triumphed in Nagina, marking a significant win for the party. In contrast, BJP's Rajveer Singh Raju Bhaiya faced defeat in Etah against SP's Devesh Shakya by a margin of 28,052 votes. High-profile wins for the BJP included Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Lucknow, Union Minister Anupriya Patel in Mirzapur, and Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in Maharajganj.
Leaders from various parties also secured their positions with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi winning in Rae Bareli and SP president Akhilesh Yadav in Kannauj. Yadav expressed his gratitude towards the electorate for their support and highlighted the victory as a step towards safeguarding democracy, social justice, and constitutional values.
However, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), led by former Chief Minister Mayawati, did not secure any seats, marking a stark contrast to their performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections where they won 10 seats. The NDA's regional allies also faced setbacks with notable losses in eastern Uttar Pradesh among candidates from backward caste communities.
In other significant outcomes, Congress's Kishori Lal Sharma defeated BJP's Smriti Irani in Amethi by a substantial margin. The Yadav family also saw victories with Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav winning from Mainpuri. Meanwhile, BJP faced losses in Sultanpur and Lakhimpur Kheri but secured a win in Gorakhpur with candidate Ravi Kishan. Actors Hema Malini and Arun Govil also won their respective seats in Mathura and Meerut.
This election has not only reshaped the political landscape of Uttar Pradesh but also indicated shifts in voter preferences and alliances. The results reflect a complex interplay of regional dynamics, party strategies, and leadership appeals across the state.
